Apianus Petrus. Cosmographiae introductio, July 1533

woodcut globe on title, numerous woodcut diagrams and a map of Greece (repeated) in text, Sessa's device at the end, light water-staining in lower margins, some leaves slightly frayed at edges, in old limp vellum, new endpapers, [Van Ortroy 84, not in Sabin], 8vo (16 by 10.5 cm), Venice, G.A. Nicolini
da Sabbio and brothers for Melchiore Sessa, July 1533.

An abridgement of Apian's Cosmographicus libre (published at Landshut in 1524). The present edition, the earliest of those printed in Venice, is essentially the same as that published in Ingolstadt in
1529/32, with only small changes to the text of De Antoecis on fol.31 and to t-vo woodcuts on fols.6v
and 7r. A brief description of the newly discovered continent of America is given on fols.22v-23r.

Very good condition.
